Using the tracker data analysis tool (http://physlets.org/tracker/) students explore different physical quantities related to the motion of falling objects they filmed with their phones. They compare measurements made using a stopwatch vs. extrapolation of times from the video recordings and look at the percent difference and error. The students calculate the potential and kinetic energy of a bouncing ball and the acceleration due to gravity, before designing their own unique experiments.
Different collaborative groups design unique experiments to investigate phenomena according to their own interests.
